Continuing along Chuo-dori, Nihonbashi Takashimaya will be on your right. Become Nihonbashi 2-chome. Maruzen is on the other side across the street.

Nihonbashi underground passageway exit list, from B1 exit

Takashimaya is a long-established store with over 180 years of history since it was founded in 1831 as a used clothing store in Kyoto by the Iida family, and the trading company ``Takashimaya Iida Shin-Nanahigashi Store'' established in 1887 continues as Marubeni.

When the Ginza Line, the first subway in Japan, was built, Takashimaya and Mitsukoshi bore the construction cost on the condition that it would be directly connected to the station for the Tokyo Underground Railway, which was having trouble with construction costs, and it is clear how prosperous these two department stores were at the time. As a result, Nihonbashi station is connected to Takashimaya, and Mitsukoshi Mae is connected to Mitsukoshi.

Takashimaya has built an annex building alongside the main building, and has attracted many restaurants and shops and it is basically the same store as other major department stores, but the difference is that the customer base is different because it has been a wealthy customer reflecting its long history.

We ate at the Takashimaya Annex of Tsubame Grill, which is located in front of Shinagawa Station and used to be around Ginza 1-chome, but it was not the one that comedians shout loudly, but the venerable "Hamburg Steak".
