At the far end of the walking route in Meiji Jingu Gyoen lies Kiyomasa's
Well. Known as a power spot in Tokyo, it has gained popularity, sometimes
leading to visitor restrictions due to high demand.
The spring water from Kiyomasa's Well flows into the iris garden and then
connects to Minami Pond. From Minami Pond, it passes under the JR railway
tracks toward Takeshita Street, then through Brahms Path and Mozart Street,
eventually flowing under Meiji Street and into Cat Street and a pedestrian
walkway.
Shibuya River continues as a covered waterway, running along Miyashita
Park and beneat Tokyu Department Store's Shibuya Branch. It surfaces at
the intersection of Meiji Street and Route 246, then flows toward Hiroo
and Shirokane.
Kiyomasa's Well
It is said that Kato Kiyomasa, a prominent feudal lord, dug this well when
he established his residence here. The well has been known for its abundant,
ever-flowing fresh water, which serves as a source for Minami Pond. Its
skilled construction and excellent water quality have been recognized since
ancient times.
明治神宮御苑の順路の一番奥に清正井がある。清正井戸は東京のパワースポットとの評判があり、入場者が急に増えて日によっては入場制限もなされる。
明治神宮御苑の清正井戸の湧水は花菖蒲田に流れ込み南池につながり、南池よりＪＲの線路をくぐって竹下通りへ、竹下通りよりブラームスの小径・モーツアルト通りを経て明治通りをくぐって現在キャットストリートや遊歩道になっている渋谷川に流れ込んでいる
渋谷川は暗渠でキャットより宮下公園に沿って流れ、渋谷東急東横店の下を流れ、明治通りと２４６号線との交差点より開渠になり広尾・白金へ流れている。
清正井
この地に下屋敷を構えて居た加藤清正が掘ったと伝えられ、一年中絶ゆることなく湧き出る清水は南池の水源となり、掘り方の巧妙と水質の優秀なことは早くから世に知られています。（苑内掲示より）
